Green Chimneys provides many opportunities for parents and guardians to visit with their child in the therapeutic residential program at Green Chimneys through individual arranged visits, special school occasions, and events held for the surrounding community.

Campus visits during after school hours or on weekends are permitted with 48 hours advance notice. After a child’s first 30 days as a resident, a parent or guardian may also schedule visits off grounds by making an appointment at least 48 hours in advance. The treatment team also helps develop a weekend home visit schedule that is specific to the child’s needs. Over the course of the year, six week-long recesses enable children to visit at home for longer periods of time.

Visiting Sundays allow family members to spend time with a child on campus while learning and interacting with other Green Chimneys families and staff members. Once a month, social workers along with direct care and recreation staff, coordinate a family-focused day of therapeutic activities, recreation, outdoor education, and/or psycho-education groups.

The Annual Family Weekend provides an opportunity for families to bond and participate in topical groups and a range of therapeutic, recreational, and outdoor education activities for the entire family to enjoy. All programming is coordinated by Green Chimneys Clinical and Social Services staff.
