Green Chimneys offers accredited special education and residential treatment for boys and girls with social, emotional, learning and behavioral challenges. Our residential treatment is a unique, multi-faceted therapeutic program designed to give every child a chance to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. We provide 24-hour supervision and support to ensure children’s safety within a therapeutic milieu that allows each child to participate in an array of beneficial activities as part of their individualized treatment plan.

Our Brewster campus is home to 102 boys and girls who reside in a state-of-the-art, sustainably-designed dorm complex with single-sex living units based on age, social and emotional development, and target behaviors. The Green Chimneys Residential Treatment Center (RTC) provides intensive structure and support to emotionally fragile boys and girls age 6–13 upon admission, who are coping with a variety of challenges related to:

  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Impulse Control Disorder
  • Mood Disorder
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Reactive Attachment Disorder
  • School Phobia and Refusal

The Green Chimneys RTC team consists of 91 dedicated staff members, including administration and direct care. Our staff is trained to assist in trauma-informed crisis management, social skills building, activities of daily living, and development of self-regulation skills. Green Chimneys utilizes behavior management techniques to help facilitate behavioral change and promote safe and effective coping skills.
