To the Mental Health Residential Treatment Community:

Green Chimneys has a unique, multi-faceted therapeutic program for children requiring mental health residential treatment. We believe that every interaction with a child can be therapeutic and thus strive to create a safe and caring environment that promotes positive, trusting relationships. It is under these conditions that children can develop positive peer relationships, positive work habits and positive control over their behaviors.

Our clinical department continually strives to find the most effective, state-of-the-art treatments. In addition to our traditional individual, group and family therapies, we provide animal-assisted and nature-based therapeutic programs. We have an active continuing education program and our clinicians attend a variety of conferences, workshops and webinars. We are also engaged in a multi-year clinical study of a children’s version of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — the first in this country.

We know that regardless of the success we may obtain on campus, our ultimate goal is to make sure that each child’s therapeutic gains transfer to the home as well. We see families, medical professionals, psychiatrists, psychologists, and educators as our partners. All of us need to share our struggles and our successes, and to communicate often and openly so that the children can return as successful members of their schools, communities and families.
